A message from Co-Founder Derek Morgan:
On July 6, 2022, my life—and the lives of my family—changed forever. I was told by my hematologist-oncologist that I had a rare blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma. While hearing the word “cancer” was overwhelming, I was also given hope. Thanks to years of research and medical advancements, there are now more effective treatments and medications available than ever before.
In November 2022, I underwent a stem cell transplant that has given me the opportunity for more time—to be a husband, father, friend, and advocate. I truly believe that many of the treatments and options available to me today would not exist without organizations like Blood Cancer United and events like Light The Night, which help fund lifesaving research and support for patients and families.
Because of the incredible advancements in research and treatment made possible through organizations like Blood Cancer United, I was able to stop my cancer treatments in 2023 and discontinue most of my medications in 2025. That is something I never imagined would be possible when I was first diagnosed. Today, I continue to move forward with hope and gratitude, knowing that the support of this community has helped make stories like mine possible.
With your support, we can bring light to the darkest nights and offer hope to mothers, fathers, children, and everyone facing blood cancers like Multiple Myeloma.
By donating to Light The Night, you become part of a community committed to making a difference. Every dollar raised helps invest in groundbreaking research, patient support, advocacy, and access to treatment for people affected by blood cancers. In fact, over the past 20 years, they have helped fund research that contributed to more than 70% of FDA-approved blood cancer treatments.
Please consider making a donation today. Together, we can shine a light for blood cancer patients and their families, while helping move us closer to a world without blood cancer.
